MUSICAL EXCELLENCE AWAITS

Brent Williams began playing the trumpet at the age of seven. As a Bakersfield native, Williams attended schools in the Panama Buena Vista Union School District, Bakersfield High School, and later graduated from California State University, Bakersfield with a B.A. in Music. Soon after, Brent earned his M.M. in Music Education from Boston University.

Brent is actively engaged in the musical community of Kern County. He taught instrumental music at Stockdale Christian School and St. John's Lutheran Schools for over ten years, managed the Bakersfield Youth Symphony Orchestra for seven years, and currently serves as the Director of Music and Fine Arts at St. John's Lutheran Church. In addition, Brent currently serves as Adjunct Professor of Trumpet at California State University, Bakersfield. Brent has also served on the board of the Kern County Music Educators Association and the Bakersfield Youth Symphony Orchestra. He is often called to adjudicate auditions and competitions for organizations such as the California Band Directors Association, California Music Educators Association, and the Southern California Band and Orchestra Association.

In addition to his music education career, Brent is an active freelance trumpet player in Bakersfield, Kern County, and Southern California. Notable bands include: Mento Buru, Foster Campbell and Friends, and Soulajar. Brent is a first call trumpet player for ensembles including the Bakersfield Winds, Bakersfield Symphony Orchestra, Bakersfield Music Theatre, and Bakersfield Ballet.

Brent's passion lies in education of students of all ages. His students consistently earn top chairs in local and state honor ensembles.  He works with parents and students to motivate and cultivate talent and a love of music.
